Bosnia, one week away and still so near

I have had one week to take my bearings since I came back from the lovely Bosnian forests, fields and valleys. I still have to upload the pictures I took from the Peace March that show the ordeal that my new friends and I embarked on. The reason why I haven't done it so far is this lousy Internet connection I have here at the beach, where I have been resting since my arrival. There were hard moments, especially the day when we visited the museum of horrors in Potacari. The whole experience is sinking in and I realize that the effort has been worth it. As soon as the new political year starts in September I will let everybody in my local organization know about the trip so that the word spreads and more and more people can go next year. Congratulations, Edin, Jasmin and other members of PSD in Gracanica for making this experience happen.

Homage to Srebrenica

I walked in the Valley of Death
among the living and the praying
and as I sighed and cried
I heard wanderers wonder why
did it all happen?
It only takes one crazy man
and thousand idiots ready to follow
and still why did it happen?
Men are sadists
and like to play Jesus,
feel absolute control
over other human lives
but still why did it happen?
There are lessons we never learn
of human holocausts
from the dawn of time
and yet will it ever happen again
when it only takes one crazy mind
and thousand of ignorant obedient hands to strike?
Let it not happen again,
Let us not walk in any more Valleys of Death.
